Connelley's image of Mauna Kea's shadow shows an almost full moon
rising. It makes the point that the shadow extends through the atmosphere
rather than being cast upon the clouds. The moon remains bright because,
long as the mountain's shadow is, unlike the Earth's
shadow it is far too short to extend to the moon. Image
