Sundogs
at Maxeys, Georgia, USA January '03. Amy Bozarth-Shenkel
has captured the essence of sundogs shining from high cirrus
haze. When, as here, the sun is close to the horizon the dogs
almost touch the 22°
circular halo. They are sharp and coloured red towards the sun and
then taper away into the parhelic circle.
The display includes a diffuse upper tangent
arc and faint upper and lower sun
pillars. ©2003 Amy Bozarth-Shenkel, shown
